About The Wildflower Within

The Wildflower Within is deeply personal to me.

I’ve always been drawn to wildflowers, but especially to where they grow.

They appear in the most unexpected places—along roadsides, in dry fields, between rocks, and sometimes through the smallest cracks in concrete. Somehow, something delicate and beautiful finds enough space to push through a place that seems determined to contain it.

When I look at my own life, I understand that kind of growth.

Some of the most difficult seasons of my life have also led to the most profound growth. Not because the difficult things were somehow necessary or beautiful. Some experiences are simply painful. Some seasons leave scars. And some take a long time to understand.

But when I look back, I can see that the places where I struggled most often became the places where something within me began to change.

Something began to break through.

And that is what The Wildflower Within means to me.

The wildflower is that part of me that has always been there—the part that continued growing beneath the surface, even when I couldn’t see it yet.

And the breaking through has become about so much more than resilience.

It has become freedom.

Freedom from some of the expectations I carried for far too long. Freedom from believing I had to fit neatly into one version of myself. Freedom from thinking I needed to have everything figured out by a certain age. Freedom to change my mind, rediscover myself, want different things, find joy again, and simply become more fully who I am.

There is something incredibly liberating about realizing that growth doesn’t always mean becoming someone else.

Sometimes growth is finally giving yourself enough room to become more of yourself.

That’s the beauty I see in a wildflower pushing through concrete. It isn’t becoming something it wasn’t before.

It’s finally finding its way into the light.

I feel like I’m doing some of that now.

I’m still a leader. I’m still learning and growing professionally. But I’m also a woman beyond the titles and responsibilities—a woman who loves fashion, dancing, music, writing, reflection, beautiful things, and a fabulous pair of boots. I can hold the serious parts of my life alongside the joyful ones. I can honor everything I’ve lived through without allowing it to define everything that comes next.

And I can continue discovering parts of myself I haven’t met yet.

That’s where Keep Becoming comes from.

It isn’t a demand to constantly improve myself. It isn’t about chasing some perfect, healed, finished version of who I should be.

It’s an invitation.

Keep growing.
Keep discovering.
Keep breaking through.
Keep making room for yourself.
Keep finding the light.

Because there is no final version of us that we have to reach.

The Wildflower Within is the part of me that kept growing through the difficult places.

Keep Becoming is the freedom I’m finding in finally letting her bloom.

Hello, I’m Julie

Welcome to The Wildflower Within—a space about curiosity, self-discovery, and creating a life that feels more aligned with who you are.

I’m a woman in my 40s learning to make room for more of myself after years of letting responsibilities, roles, and expectations take up most of the space.

I’m still an educator and school principal, and leadership is a huge part of my life. But it isn’t the only part of me.

This is where I share all of it—the leading and the living, the writing and reflecting, the outfits, the travel, the dancing, the experiences, and everything I’m learning along the way.

I don’t have life figured out. I’m simply staying curious about who I am, what I want, and what else might be waiting for me.

And if you’re doing a little becoming of your own, I hope something here makes you curious about your story, too.
