Some of the things I rely on at work aren’t complicated. They’re just items I’ve used long enough to know they make my days easier.

An assortment of essential items for professionals, including a rolling work tote, gym bag, travel cup tumbler, reusable disc planner, eraser pens, and planner refills.

My rolling work tote

I really dislike carrying bags, so my rolling work tote has been a lifesaver. I’ve bought this same one three times in the last 12 years, and it holds up through everything. It’s built for files and a laptop—not like a mini suitcase—and the spinner wheels let me roll it wherever I need to go. Best of all, it saves my shoulders. It gets an A+ from me.

The travel cup holder

This little cup holder slides right over the handle of my tote. I can carry my coffee and tumbler hands-free, which makes getting from one place to another a lot easier.

Erasable pens

This job requires a lot of flexibility, so erasable pens make sense for my everyday notes. Standard pens are for signatures only. 🙂

My reusable planner

I buy new inserts each year and build my calendar exactly how I want it. I’ve tried every kind of planner you can imagine, but this one has been my go-to for the last few years. I like being able to reuse the cover and choose the pages that work for me.

The gym bag

The gym bag is for the goals I’m working toward after work. Whether I’m heading to the gym or off to dance, there’s a compartment at the bottom for my shoes. The top has plenty of room for clothes, sprays, deodorant, and the other things I need.

These are a few practical favorites that help me get through a busy day—and remind me to make room for what I want to do after work, too.

Hello, I’m Julie

Welcome to The Wildflower Within—a space about curiosity, self-discovery, and creating a life that feels more aligned with who you are.

I’m a woman in my 40s learning to make room for more of myself after years of letting responsibilities, roles, and expectations take up most of the space.

I’m still an educator and school principal, and leadership is a huge part of my life. But it isn’t the only part of me.

This is where I share all of it—the leading and the living, the writing and reflecting, the outfits, the travel, the dancing, the experiences, and everything I’m learning along the way.

I don’t have life figured out. I’m simply staying curious about who I am, what I want, and what else might be waiting for me.

And if you’re doing a little becoming of your own, I hope something here makes you curious about your story, too.
